Maharashtra Pakshimitra
(MPM) is working in Bird conservation, protection and awareness since 1982.MPM is mainly working for coordination of bird watchers, to give a platform for birdwatchers from all over Maharashtra, raising awareness regarding bird protection and conservation, conducting bird census and many other programmes.
Threats to birds are ever increasing. Some bird species are declared as endangered, some near-threatened. We sadly note that some species have become extinct too.
Hence this is a good time to become a member of Maharashtra Pakshimitra and strengthen the bird conservation movement for protection of birds.
Together we will arrange 'Friends of birds' meets, undertake bird studies, census drives and conservation of birds.

Citizen Sparrow is motivated by the observation that House Sparrows have declined in numbers in many parts of
the country, while in a few other parts their numbers are reported to be stable.
Citizen Sparrow will run for two months, that is, for April and May
The project is run by the Bombay Natural History Society, together with a consortium
of organisations interested in nature, birds and conservation from all across the country.
